A few words from a cancer fighter

In May 2015, my Mom was told that she only had 6 months left to live (it infuriates me how this number is thumbsucked). She is still fighting this disease and is doing well so far. I asked her if she had any words of advice to offer and her words were:

“People might tell you what to do, what to try or what to take. This may make you feel a little out of control. So follow a management plan and routine that works best for you. If you are tired, then tell people. Tell your family and friends as only a person that has dealt with chemo knows what kind of tiredness a person feels. Eat more veggies, less sugar and don’t be afraid to ask anybody for help. That’s one thing I have learnt, is that people want to help if they can and surround yourself with the people you love.”

Great post Nats, and so very sorry your Mom is having to go through this. I didn’t realise they had given her only 6 months. Well she’s proven them wrong hasn’t she??? Such good advice to let people know what you’re going through and surround yourself with people you love and treat you lovingly. One of the reasons I value our friendship so much. Love to you and your Mom and family xxxx

Nats your mom is so amazing. That infectious laughter and saying what’s on her mind. I think that’s why we have such an incredible bond. Even though we’ve had long gaps where we’ve seen each other when we do get together it’s like we hug and carry on our conversation where we left off. I love Cec to bits. So happy we all spent time together last Sunday.
