Lose yourself in the music

Music - Amy MacDonald

It’s a new week on The Blog Tag and the theme is music.

Music has been a big part of my life ever since I was a child. I come from a musical family where my parents played in a band, my brother is a guitarist/composer/musician and I dabbled in the piano for a bit.

Being exposed to all sorts of music from a young age is probably what has influenced my wide taste and appreciation for music today. I enjoy classical, jazz, pop, rock, 80’s music, opera, country, R&B, electronic and dance music. I also enjoy music where you can hear the instruments such as guitar licks, piano chords, drum solos or strings.

I love how music has the ability to touch you emotionally. It can make you feel happy, sad, tearful, comforted, inspired, reminiscent, uplifted, give you goosebumps and even provide a brief escape from reality. It also brings people together by strengthening social bonds. Music gives people a common interest when attending music concerts, shows, festivals and gigs.

Although I enjoy many kinds of music, I would say my absolute favourite is trance music. The reason being it always makes me feel happy and uplifted. And believe it or not but melodic trance also helps me to concentrate while I’m working. Problem solving is a daily part of my job and while I’m listening to music it can help me to zone out from the office surroundings and concentrate on getting my work done.

I’d like to conclude by sharing a YouTube video of one of my favourite trance dj’s Aly and Fila. It’s not just doof-doof, from 2:40 you’ll see that the melody gets uplifting. Join me in my happy place! 🙂

“Music..
speaks what cannot be expressed
soothes the mind and gives it rest
heals the heart and makes it whole
flows from heaven to the soul”

I’d love to hear what music means to you? How does it make you feel? What is your favourite type of music? Please feel free to share in the comments below.

And the words that come to mind are “Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing
Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing” 😉
